* Unified residence and work permit:

 ERPR is issued to third-country nationals who apply for a residence permit for the purpose of work. These are persons employed under an employment relationship within the meaning of the Labor Code by a local employer.

         The procedure for issuing an ERPR is in line with Directive 2011/98/EU on a single application procedure for third-country nationals for a single residence and work permit on the territory of a Member State and on a common set of rights for third-country workers, legally residing in a Member State.

         ERPR is issued for a period of 3 years /with an option to extend to 5/, and when the term of the employment contract is shorter than 3 years, the permit is issued for the duration of the contract.

         Procedures and deadlines:

- conducting a market test - duration of 14 days with a minimum of two channels of information dissemination.

- issuing a residence and work permit  - no longer than 2 months, counted from the date of submission of the documents to the Migration Agency or ObGr Migration. In case of factual and legal complexity, the deadline can be extended by 2 months.

- issuance of a visa at the embassy/consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in the country of residence - up to 4 weeks from the date of submission of the visa application and no longer than 30 working days.

- confirmation of the permission to access the labor market - within 14 days, counted from the date of actual entry into the country, the foreigner should appear in person at the  SDVR Migration or ObGr Migration to present his visa. Within 5 working days, an official check is carried out for the presence of circumstances that would prevent the completion of the procedure.

- issuance of a card to the foreigner - depending on the type of order for issuing documents, but not longer than 30 days / similarly when issuing Bulgarian personal documents, the term depends on the type of order/.

- final conclusion of an employment contract - after issuing an ERPR

* EU Blue Card

The EU SC is issued to third-country nationals who apply for a residence permit for the purpose of work. These are persons hired to exercise highly qualified employment  in an employment relationship within the meaning of the Labor Code by a local employer for positions for which Bulgarian citizenship is not required by law.

      The procedure for issuing an "EU Blue Card" is in accordance with Directive 2009/50/EC on the highly qualified employment of third-country nationals.

       A long-term residence and work permit of the "EU SC" type is issued for a period of up to 4 years /with an option to extend it up to 5/. When the term of the employment contract is shorter, the permit is issued for the term of the contract.

Procedures and deadlines:

- issuing a residence and work permit  - no longer than 2 months, counted from the date of submission of the documents to the Migration Agency or ObGr Migration. In case of factual and legal complexity, the term can be extended by 1 month.

- issuance of a visa at the embassy/consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in the country of residence - up to 4 weeks from the date of submission of the visa application and no longer than 30 working days.
